FISH RIVER LODGE
Traveling to Northern Maine during any season means escape from the rest of the country. The trip to cozy Fish River Lodge, located at the end of a paved road off Route 11, is all about tradition. If you're looking for the Marriott, look elsewhere. Here...you go back in time. Fish River Lodge is perched on a bluff overlooking Maine's magnificent EAGLE LAKE. The property offers 900 feet of shore frontage meaning accessing the water for fishing, swimming or boating takes less than a minute walk.
These are nostalgic accommodations based on a 1930's lifestyle. The accommodations are spotless and these sporting camps are PET FRIENDLY too.
Enjoy the hearty dining experience provided by Wayne Bennett who along with wife Tenley, can cook just about anything you could think of...including many St John Valley recipes. The cabins have kitchens and all the comforts of home. BUT...It's nice to know you can arrange American Plan Dining. The Bennetts are only too happy to customize combinations of lodging, meals and guide services.

| Wayne is the cook at Fish River Lodge. Here...he prepares a spectacular pork loin which will be accompanied by glazed carrots (in Maine maple syrup). Wayne tries hard to please the palate and guests come away understanding just how "gourmet" sporting camp cooking can be... His unprepossessing style is all the more reason to visit these vintage camps. |

| Another "old" recipe is the home-made PLOYE. Made with Buckwheat, this thin crepe-like French "pancake" can only be appreciated by tasting one. |

SLED DOG TOURS & RIDES
You'd be missing an adventure if you neglected to ask Tenley (who is also a Musher) about Valley View Kennel. Larry Murphy offers affordable sled dog rides. No other sport provides such an immense sort of rapport with these loving, FAST Alaskan Huskies. If you want "memories," here's a MUST DO.

IT'S COLD!!! Very few sporting camps operate every day of the year! Fish River Lodge is one of those rare winter possibilities. Come to ice fish or snowmobile, take a dog sled jaunt or do some cross country or Nordic skiing. A few guests even come to ssnowshoe and look for moose "sheds." OR come to eat like a king and sit in the Lodge, waiting for the sunset.
