Creating any on-location television series... in any remote location ...takes a great deal of planning and LOTS of TIME and PATIENCE. None of Sporting Camps: Comfort & Cuisine is shot or filmed in a studio or by using green screen. Many "shoots" have become logistics nightmares, which actually make the show that much more exciting. Over The Cliff Productions wants to introduce you to a few interesting "time capsules." These photos were taken from footage that will soon be coming to a cable network near you! Stay tuned as we dream together during these visual moments of "down to earth drama."

| When heading to a SPORTING CAMP in Maine...the adventure often means driving into the wilderness or to a remote spot on the map. Once you enter any "private roads." brace yourself for fast truck traffic. The locals call this HUGE log truck "Big Ass..." We wondered why until we met on the road. Whenever the sight of dust appears ahead OR in back of you... you must "pull over" as needed. Large trucks like this can't stop "on a dime." They are on tight schedules and move as fast as humanly safe. |
| As mentioned (opposite)...prior to entering the forests and driving on any of these private roads one must stop and REGISTER. Every person in every vehicle entering the North Maine Woods is first "checked-in" at various entry points on the United States side of the border. This particular check-point is located on the Mill Road west of Portage Lake, Maine. From here, one can travel thousands of miles along dirt roads. NO GAS STATIONS! AND...road signs are rare. Travelling on woods roads requires preparation. |

VINTAGE COMFORT & CUISINE represents the newest of 2011's Sporting Camp television series. Over The Cliff Productions is filming - on-location - in remote yet accessible Maine. This site will be continually updated as we film at more and more locations that inspire vintage thinking and "recession-affordable" meals.

| Your hosts, Clifton Fletcher and David Despres review a few last minute ideas before gathering the crew for a briefing on "where to begin shooting." At Moose Point Camps, the staff was comfortably housed in private, turn of the century log camps...each with a wood stove and propane lamps and private bath with shower. |

| Moose are everywhere in the North Maine Woods. Even sitting on the porch of the cabin, we often spotted moose in Fish River Lake or in the various fields surrounding Moose Point Camps. |

| REMEMBER ... Northern New England Means 4-Seasons! |
| The wonders of catching and cooking a wild salmon from an ice hole is a "never-forgotten" memory. Just the process of getting a l o n g augur and drilling into the 3-4 foot thick lake ice is sometimes challenging. We've seen certain lakes where a 3-ft augur wasn't long enough. now we understand why trucks plow roads across the lake ice in some locations. Remember the great HISTORY CHANNEL series "Ice Road Truckers?" YOU GOT NERVE? |
| By the way, just a few hours away is New England's tallest mountain, MT WASHINGTON. FYI - The highest wind speed on the planet was recorded at the summit. On one of our days off, we visited her majesty. The road was closed due to excessive snow...but it was a thrill to see it, nevertheless. |
